Nathan Vaughn is married to the former Sandra Smith. They have two children, Nathan III and Nicholas both of whom are sales representatives. He graduated from King College in Bristol in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and has owned his State Farm Insurance Agency for over 27 years.
Nathan served the people of the 2nd district for 3 terms. During his time in the legislature he served on the Children & Family Affairs, Finance Ways and Means, and Transportation committees in addition to serving as the Secretary of Calendar and Rules.
Nathan serves his community and the people of Tennessee on a wide variety of organizations. Currently he serves as a Board Member for Hope Haven Ministries and Symphony of the Mountains. Nathan is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Kingsport. He serves as a member of the State Sesquicentennial Commission, celebrating 150 years of Tennessee History; Past member of The Tennessee Economic Council of Women and Select Committee on Education, and was awarded the “2008 Legislator of The Year” award by ARC of Tennessee, an organization that works with intellectual and developmental disabilities
